I lead your people

Head of marketing, fractional

$6,600 a monthUSD. Three month minimum.

I step into your organisation as your part-time senior communications and marketing lead, providing strategic direction, clarity and oversight without the cost or commitment of a full-time Marketing Director.

The role

Leadership, not another contractor.

My work centres on strengthening your organisation's ability to communicate clearly, engage audiences meaningfully, and deliver consistent, purpose-led campaigns.

I bring 20+ years across government, corporate and start-ups, blending strategic communications, brand storytelling and modern marketing systems to create communications that are clear, consistent and effective.

I provide leadership, direction and clarity. Your internal team implements, with confidence and focus.

How the engagement works

A contained, structured 90 days.

Designed to diagnose what isn't working, build the strategy, support your team to implement it clearly and correctly, and lift the organisation's communications capability.

Stage 01

Strategy workshop, 90 minutes

A structured diagnostic session covering your current communications landscape, organisational goals and priorities, audience insights, brand narrative and key messages, content and campaign performance, internal workflows and capability, and your risks, gaps and opportunities.

Outcome: a clear strategic direction for the next 90 days.

Stage 02

Communications strategy

A concise, actionable strategy document setting out your key messages, narrative framework, content and communications priorities, campaign approach, stakeholder engagement pathways, tone, positioning and themes, a 90 day communications plan, and responsibilities with high-level timelines.

This becomes the blueprint your team follows.

Stage 03

Implementation support

Your team executes. I provide senior oversight: fortnightly 45 minute check-in calls for progress, guidance, decisions and problem-solving. A private dashboard for ongoing communication and implementation. Review of your communications materials, including copy, messaging, media releases, content and briefs. Campaign direction and refinement. Recommendations on systems, workflows and processes, and capability uplift where it's needed, through templates, frameworks and guides.

Stage 04

Continuous access

Between sessions your team can reach me through the private dashboard for feedback, clarification, approvals, direction, message refinement and reviewing communications materials.

Response time: within 1 to 2 business days.

Who I work with

Ideal when you

Have no senior lead

You lack an internal CMO or senior communications lead, and the decisions keep landing on someone who shouldn't be making them.

Have a team without direction

You've got people doing marketing who need direction and clarity, not more tasks.

Are running several programs at once

Multiple programs or campaigns in flight, and messaging that isn't consistent or aligned across them.

Want it to feel professional

You want communications that feel organised, professional and strategic, rather than reactive.

Are modernising

You're reviewing systems, workflows or team capability and want senior thinking on it.

Don't want the headcount

You want senior thinking without a full-time salary on the books.

I partner with NGOs and not-for-profits, purpose-driven and community organisations, education providers, social enterprises, ecommerce, and organisations navigating growth, change or increased public visibility.

What makes this different

Not coaching. Not a strategy document in a drawer.

This is senior-level communications and marketing leadership. You get a communications leader embedded in your organisation for 90 days, clarity, direction and decision-making, improved internal processes, strengthened messaging, uplifted team capability, campaign oversight and refinement, and a strategy that actually gets implemented.

This is for organisations who need leadership, not another contractor.

FAQ

The questions

How is this different to marketing management?

It comes down to who does the work, and who the engagement is built for.

Marketing management is for a business with no marketing people. I am your marketing department. I write the plan and then I go and make everything: the content, the emails, the campaigns. Nobody on your side touches it except to approve it.

This one is for an organisation that already has people doing marketing, and nobody senior deciding what they should be working on. I don't make the content. I set the direction, write the strategy your team delivers against, review everything they produce, and lift their capability while I'm there. You're buying a head of marketing, not a pair of hands.

Quick test: if there is nobody to lead, you want the $5,000 one. If there are people and no leadership, you want this one.

Do you manage my staff?

I manage the work, not the people.

I set the direction, decide what your team should be working on and in what order, review what they produce and give them feedback on it. In that sense yes, I'm leading them.

What I don't do is the people management. Not their day to day, not their workload or hours, not their performance reviews, leave, pay or anything employment related. Their manager is still their manager.

What do we actually walk away with?

A communications strategy document, a 90 day plan with responsibilities and timelines, the frameworks and templates your team needs to keep using it, and a team who have been working to it for three months with senior review on everything they produced.

How much of our team's time does it take?

The 90 minute workshop up front, then a fortnightly 45 minute call. Everything else happens through the dashboard, in your team's own time.

What happens after 90 days?

You'll have a strategy, a plan and a team who know what they're doing with it. We'll review the engagement together to decide whether continuing is required, or what the next steps are.
